ABOUT:
West Side Poetry Slam is a monthly hybrid open mic night where you can sign up on the night and perform an original piece of writing to open minds, hearts, and arms. Audience members score with a fun line of feedback and you could win a support feature slot at the next slam. Other performance art forms are also welcome. Anything can be poetry.
FEATURE - Griffin Ryan
Griffin is a goofy guy in training, a self proclaimed slut for alliteration and offers puns in exchange for scowls not laughter.
He's also a work in progress striving towards softness rather than explicitly hiding behind humour. One day at a time making his younger self proud and jealous.
SUPPORT FEATURE - Louise Tran
Louise Tran (@10trnl) is an Australian-born poet of Vietnamese descent. Through a mixture of poetry and prose, Louise loves to delve into themes of heartbreak, longing, and identity conflict. She writes to mourn, to remember, and to unravel the most vulnerable parts of the human heart—especially those touched by grief. Her work is forthcoming in Grapeshot Magazine (a Macquarie University publication) and she is currently on the heels of publishing her debut poetry collection, "Love Without a Home" - a tender exploration of the space where love lingers as grief - its final, most aching translation.
